Getting My Master’s Degree

Perhaps a year ago or so, I was flipping through a writing magazine and I saw an ad for online writing master’s degree at a reputable school. I looked up the programs, and promptly fell in love.

Unfortunately, the program isn’t cheap. College tuition costs are even higher for master’s programs than for undergraduate programs, it seems: This program has only ten courses, but each one costs $1,500.That’s what I get for wanting an online program and a nice school, I guess.

I might be able to save money on college by choosing a different school, but the other choice I have in mind doesn’t have as good a program. I know my parents will help out a little, but not enough to make this program affordable for me. I still need to look into what financial aid is available for master’s students -- for instance, whether I qualify for FAFSA.

The other problem is more of a time issue. I would need to maintain my income while I pursue my master’s -- there is just no way we can make it without my income. And as busy as I am, I just don’t know how feasible it is to add master’s level classes to my workload.

Where there’s a will there’s a way, though. I just need to find the will to find the way!

It sounds like your mind is already made up and you just need that little push to continue. Since you have chosen a reputable school and understand the expense, pace yourself. It may take a little longer to complete your degree, but it will be very worth it.

Don't give up on the school you have chosen. Settling never does seem to be the right thing, in life or in an education. It might be a little harder financially or take a little longer but it will be worth it.

Settling for a lesser school is not the answer. In the long run you won't be happy and your needs will not be filled. Spend the extra money, make the sacrifice.

I can completely relate to this. I wanted to go back and get my Master's and really struggled with it. It took awhile but I found a school I could afford and worked with my schedule. It's possible!

It's been a few years since I went to school but I remember the first year was all about the newness of it all and by the third year the concern over how to pay for it finally hit. I don't think it is ever too early to start planning and saving.

Getting a masters degree will make a huge difference in your career. I got one when I wanted to change jobs and it was the best thing I ever did. Whatever the cost, go for it!

The online degrees are scheduled to choose the right time and course to the students. It is quite good to do an online degree because the cost is less and no need to spend much more time on classes.I found the career and the salary is good for the students having masters degree.
