I started working at a small restaurant downtown after graduating from high school. It's a family owned place. I help them out in the kitchen, and sometimes out in front, taking reservations or waiting tables. I do whatever needs doing. It's a nice job, I really enjoy it, and my bosses treat me well. Sometimes I think it would be really great to own my own restaurant someday, or at least manage one.
I heard about foodservice and hospitality courses you can take at online colleges. That seems to me to be a good way of learning more about the restaurant business, whether I want to become a chef, owner, or even both. My bosses have been very encouraging. They are immigrants who really believe in higher education.
I know there are a lot of schools where you can take online courses, but there are also many certificate programs. A lot of people in the restaurant business don't have college degrees, but since I'm interested in the business end of it, I'm going to look into online business degrees. My bosses tell me they learned a lot of things the hard way. They have a son who is an accountant, and they say he helps them out a lot with financial decisions. He told me a business education is helpful no matter what area you go into these days.

I think it can. You can get various online degrees, including Management and Marketing.
